WHAT IS EUROLATOR Eurolator converts an amount of the one currency into all the other currencies, which participate in the Euro. The Euro is the European single currency, which will first be used in the financial world. Eventually, it will replace all the currencies participating in the Euro. The countries participating, are: Austria, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Finland, France, Republic of Eire (Ireland), Italy, Luxemburg, Netherland, Portugal. As an extra feature you can copy a calculated value to the clipboard for use in an other program. Since version 1.1 a rounded result is added. 4. INSTALLING EUROLATOR Just start the obtained euro11.exe file. Unzip the files to the desired location. If you unzip to c:\, and you have installed Windows in the standard location, even a icon will appear on your desktop. Otherwise you will have to do this manually. Look in you Windows-manual for more information. 5. USING THE PROGRAM To convert an amount of some currency, you just type in the amount in the textfield. Next, you choose the appropriate currency and press the Calculate button. Immediatly after that, the conversions are calculated and displayed. To copy a calculated value to the clipboard, select the desired currency and choose the menu Edit-Copy. Initially, the unrounded value is copied. In order to copy the rounded value first select Edit-Copy rounded value in the menu. The column from which the value will be copied is bold. 6. INTERNATIONAL VERSION If you are a non-English speaker, probably the first thing you want to do, is changing the interface to your own language. Currently English, Dutch, French and German are supported. In the menu Language you can choose a language. The next time you start Eurolator, the program will automatically use this language again. 7. PROGRAM HISTORY On the 31st of December 1998 the official rates of the new pan-European currency, the Euro, were released. From this, the idea raised to make a program which could conveniently convert from one currency into the other. On New Year's Day the first version was ready and published via the World Wide Web. Version 1.1 was released on the 14th January. Added: rounded value, readme text available from menu, aboutbox. Version 1.2 was released on the 29th January. It contains some minor bugfixes. A French user interface is added. The column (exact VALUE or ROUNDED value) from which will be copied is now displayed with a bold text. 8. COMPATIBILITY WITH PREVIOUS VERSIONS This version uses the preferences of the previous versions. However, since version 1.0 the program itself is located in a different location, so you could use both version on the same system. To remove the old version just delete the program-folder (usually c:\program files\eurolator v1.0) and remove the shortcut from your desktop. If you previously used version 1.1, the old version will automatically be replaced. 9. FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS We hope, in association with you, to add some more languages in the near future. If there are any mistakes in the existing languages, please contact me with your corrections. We plan to make some macros, to use Eurolator in external programs, like Microsoft Word and Excel. If you have some other ideas, you could always drop a line to the following address: roelf@stack.nl Future versions will become available through our website: http://www.stack.nl/~roelf/eurolator/
